Sarasota Memorial Healthcare Foundation Welcomes New Board Member Thomas Kelly, M.D., and Announces Board Leadership Changes for 2018-2019
Sarasota Memorial Healthcare Foundation (SMHF) recently welcomed Thomas F. Kelly, M.D to its board of trustees and announced new officer appointments for 2018-2019.
Dr. Kelly is a practicing cardio-thoracic surgeon with Sarasota Memorial Hospital’s First Physicians Group. He attended Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska, with a fellowship in thoracic and cardiovascular surgery at Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, Texas and residency at Emory University, Atlanta.
Jim Syprett, immediate past chair also announced new board leadership appointments: William E. Chapman II, Chairman; Charles W. Shivery, Vice Chairman; Richard Gerrity, Treasurer; Mary Evelyn Guyton, Secretary.
“I am honored to serve on the board of the Healthcare Foundation,” said Bill Chapman, Chairman. “Our mission is to work together with Sarasota Memorial in making sure that everyone in the community has access to the best healthcare—today and into the future.

The Healthcare Foundation has enjoyed significant growth in the last two years, in part due to the strength of its board. “We are very fortunate that the esteemed Dr. Kelly has joined us,” added Mr. Chapman. “He not only brings his healthcare expertise, he shares our passion for philanthropy and our role in helping SMH remain a top hospital in the country.”
