Sarasota Memorial Healthcare Foundation committed $2 million to support the expansion of on-campus childcare for Sarasota Memorial Health Care System employees.

The philanthropic investment funded the purchase and renovation of a building adjacent to SMH-Sarasota’s existing Child Care Center I on Hyde Park Street. The new Child Care Center Annex will add 60 additional childcare slots for infants and young children.

Demand for employee childcare at Sarasota Memorial has grown as the health system continues to expand. Increased access to childcare will support employee recruitment, retention and job satisfaction for employees at every level.

“Reliable childcare is essential for today’s healthcare workforce,” said Stacey Corley, President, Sarasota Memorial Healthcare Foundation. “This investment by the Healthcare Foundation and our donors helps support the people who care for our community by ensuring their families have access to safe, high-quality childcare close to work.”

Sarasota Memorial is the largest employer in Sarasota County and the Suncoast region. It has offered childcare services to employees since 1973 and is the only health system in the region to provide on-site childcare for its workforce. The new annex opened in November 2025.
