STORY

Since 1976, the Healthcare Foundation, through the generosity of many donors, has helped SMH raise the bar for healthcare in our community and the nation. Our areas of focus are patient care, technology, facilities, clinical education, and medical research, but our impact extends far beyond these pillars.

For our community hospital, a healthcare foundation like ours provides the margin of excellence between an average hospital and one like SMH. Over the years, donor support has helped fund a multitude of important initiatives at SMH, including programs and services at the Brian D. Jellison Cancer Institute and the Cornell Behavioral Health Pavilion; clinical research and staff continuing education at the Kolschowsky Research and Education Institute; and expanding services in South Sarasota County.

The importance of community support cannot be overstated. With over 48 successful years behind us, we are grateful for our generous community which has helped SMH earn multiple accolades for superior patient care and its ranking as one of the best hospitals in the country.
